Geumjeong Mountain Fortress South Gate (금정산성 남문)

Geumjeongsanseong Fortress is located on the peak of Geumjeongsan Mountain (801.5m) in Busan. It is the largest mountain fortress in Korea (17,377 meters long, 1.5 to 3 meters high). The fortress was built in 1703 during the reign of King Sukjong to prevent invasions after the Imjin War (1592 - 1598).  Three of the four original gates (East, West, and South Gates) were recovered in 1970, with the South Gate being the most in-tact.

If your going to visit Seokbulsa, I suggest taking the cable car from Geumjeongsan park and checking out the South Gate first. The nature trail between the South Gate and Seokbulsa is incredible and worth a visit alone.

Check out my personal photos below. Enjoy!
