UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea (재한유엔기념공원)
UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea (재한유엔기념공원)
The UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea honors UN soldiers from 16 countries and UN aids from five countries that were killed in battle during the Korean War from 1950-1953. Some notable sites and memorials include the Memorial Service Hall, Memorabilia Hall, two Turkish Monuments, Australian Monument, British Common Wealth Monument and two ponds. There are many annual events held on the grounds including a Tributary Ceremony of the Veterans of the Korean War (April), American Memorial Day (May), Korean Memorial Day (June), and UN Ceremony Day (October).
I originally decided to visit the cemetery only because it was close to the Busan history museum. To my surprise, I enjoyed both the horticulture and history provided at the cemetery/garden. If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend a visit.
Check out my personal favorite photos below. Enjoy!

The round pond signifies the universe and the reflection on the pond represents the sky, the fallen and the beholders of the pond becoming united as one. The eternal flame pays a tribute to all the fallen and expresses its eternal wish for world-wide peace.

Unknown soldier's pathway. Each side has 11 cascades, 11 fountains, and 11 pine trees representing the 11 countries who have soldiers interred at the UNMCK.
